Hi,
I'd like to start working mon forming a membership committe so we can set definite standards for membership and begin setting up our structure for an internal Mentoring program.
We will be discussing and deciding issues like:
Requirements of membership Dues and Fees of Membership Member Rights and responsibilities Member Classification Classification Criteria
and whatever else we decide is appropriate for this committee.
This particular committee will hopefully become quite active and require some serious thought. Please post here if you'd like to join, introduce yourself and throw out some ideas or thoughts you have on either existing structures or potential ones.
Yours, Julie

Hi, yes, I hope I can help. The criteria that are already mentioned on this site are great, maybe, I say only maybe, we could rise the required IQ a little bit, just for the IQ category, we would always have UG etc, anyway.
I don't think it's a good idea to introduce a membership fee. Intelligent people are sometimes the poorest.

Hi, About the membership fee: I think this is a necessary component of the group because it is impossible to accomplish very much of anything without money. I think, ust based on the amount of interest with almost no advertising, that we will have many people who wish to join. We will need to pay people to deal with membership and other things, eventually.
That said, I also think it is important that we allow people who are financial unable to join to apply for a waiver of membership fees. I don't know how we would work that out as far as determining financial need and verification, if any, but this is my opinion.
If we can get adequate funding without membership fees that would be great, but then you also have the issue of certain people not feeling the same committment to something if they aren't paying for it.

I like the idea of entering a site and then generating interest in an idea or project and those that support the idea give funds to that project and the funding is then unlimited.
Now the other side of the equation is to have IQ tests to get in, say one in a trillion qualify, and also one tillion dollars to join. I exagerate to illustrate the turning off effect of these two criteria. Yes IQ and money are needed but not at the start.
At the start introducing loving people is important and showing support to all is the challenge. Later comes Growing the numbers and guide the projects . Money and IQ do not nessaceraly go together (nor does spelling and grammer, Ha).

Wow !!!one in a trillion!what an example you've made! Yes...i agree that we should rise the required IQ a bit(maybe at least IQ132?)...and the way to do so is to use IQ tests...of course use those that have been normed and were quite reliable...i suggest that we should use IQ tests that were used as admission in other IQ societies too...check out those other societies...i think High Potential Society doesn't require any fee?Later, you may even create IQ tests for admission purpose...

The welcome email was automatically generated and comes at a very busy time at university in the midst of organising a conference and Post Graduate study, being a treasure on an early childhood preschool, a board member on the University Alumni of 23,000, husband, father and full time graduate student. Ask a busy person, 80% of things are done by 20% of the people. So I am delighted to see the email from you and the organisation Hypatia. Why I like Hypatia Society is that it looks for excellence in all peoples and uses the 20% of the people can make 80% of the difference. Ilike the group because I can ask a question and get an answer that is IQ delivered. I may not like or accept the answer however I know that concepts have been seen that I my not be aware of and I trust that mystery in the answer. I have said before that these answers are worth money and I would like to see a funding mechanism that puts funds in to Hypatia Society when I answer questions from people who are 2 S.D. below my I Q. When I ask a question I pay in an exponentially expanding way (5cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 40 cents) for answers from a person 2 Standard Deviation above me. If I change person then I start from 5 cents again. However when I trust a persons answers then I am willing to pay more money. I can see a time when $5000 is paid for a question to be answered and more. These questions and answers are then a valuable achive for people to supscribe to and universities would be interested in looking at the answers as they will be the best in the world.
Stay on the job julie
